Introducing Tierra

Summer is a busy time at HIP and our programming is growing every year. To help us with our expanded Summer Meals Program this year, HIP has hired a part-time Meal Program Assistant. We are excited to have Tierra join our team, albeit just for the summer. If you are volunteering with us this summer, you may see her helping with meal prep or in the office planning our Summer Meals. Please join us in welcoming Tierra to our HIP family! Here is Tierra in her own words.

Hi all, my name is Tierra Whitaker and I’m the new meal program assistant here at HIP. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana but I have been in Washington for some time now. I will soon be graduating from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science in biology and a minor in nutrition. I am honored and excited to be working with the Hunger Intervention Program because I am determined to make an impact in the food system so that everyone has access to healthy, affordable and culturally appropriate food. Some of my hobbies are dancing, hiking, gardening, and of course eating and cooking. Who doesn’t love food?!?
