Shelter Meals
VolunteerHIP’s Shelter Meals Program provides nutritious dinners and breakfasts to residents at the North King County Enhanced Shelter (more commonly known as The Oaks) in Shoreline. This 24/7 Enhanced Shelter opened in April 2021, and is run by Lake City Partners Ending Homelessness in partnership with King County and the City of Shoreline. Enhanced shelters recognize the necessity of meeting an individual’s basic needs in order to effectively address the challenges which lead to housing instability. The Oaks provides the case management, meals, hygiene services, and other services needed to support an individual’s eventual move into permanent housing.
HIP’s Shelter Meals program provides dinners and breakfasts to residents at The Oaks. In providing these meals, HIP is helping to remove food insecurity as a barrier and support residents as they move towards long-term housing.
