Checkbooks may be going out of fashion, but we absolutely accept checks and they help us avoid the 3+% online payment processing fees. Please write your checks in favor of “Hunger Intervention Program” and mail them to our contact address at the bottom on this page.

Join HIP’s Nourishing Generations Legacy Circle

Have you considered how to have a long-lasting impact on food security for generations to come? A 2022 Northwest Harvest report found that a quarter to one-third of people are food insecure in WA state. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color households have the highest rates, along with families with children.

Let’s change those statistics. Consider making a gift through your will to Hunger Intervention Program’s Nourishing Generations Legacy Circle. At HIP, we not only provide underserved communities with delicious, nutritious meals, but we also empower people to learn about food and food systems and advocate for food security for all at every chance we get.

IRA Distribution

You can use your hard-earned savings to contribute to an organization that supports your values. At the age of 70 ½ you have to start taking withdrawals from your IRA, Simple IRA, SEP IRA, or retirement plan. These are called Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs). Due to a recent change in the law, if your 70th birthday is July 1, 2019 or later, you do not have to take withdrawals until you reach age 72.

Donating your RMD to a cause you care about qualifies as a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) and is tax-deductible up to $100,000.

Check out the following resources to learn more about RMD and QCD:

Fred Meyers Rewards Program

Do you shop at Fred Meyer? Use your rewards card to help HIP earn donation every time you shop there! To link your rewards card to benefit Hunger Intervention Program, visit: www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards or ask a customer representative next time you are in the store.

Note: Fred Meyer required all their customers to re-enroll their charity selection earlier this year. So even if you have done this in the past, you may need to do this one more time.

Stock Donation

You can transfer a donation of stock to Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) as a way to nourish all members of our communities.

Email us for instructions for electronic transfer of stocks.

Please contact HIP before transferring stock to let us know about the type of stock, number of shares, and any special instructions.

Used Vehicle Donation

If your vehicle (automobile, truck, boat, motorcycle, RV, etc.) is no longer of use to you, it can still go a long way toward supporting nutritious meals for our neighbors struggling to put food on their tables. To get started, you can fill in this online form or call (888) 755-5435. Please also let us know when you initiate this process so that we can follow up accordingly.

Workplace Giving

Many employers will double or even triple your personal support by matching your contribution dollar for dollar. Check with your employer to see if they can match your gift.

    In-Kind Donations

HIP welcomes donations of food and supplies for our programs. You can donate on your own or host a food drive. Please contact us for more information about our current needs before you organize a food drive.

Note that monetary donations are always more useful as we can make your money go further with bulk purchase.

Questions about getting started with any of the programs above?

I can’t imagine not having food when I’m hungry and I want to make sure kids have enough food. Thank you for all you do in our community by helping feed hungry kids.”
