Summer Eats

For many families with kids and teens who rely on free and reduced lunches during the school year, summer presents a major barrier as they are left without access to this resource for three months. This is where HIP and other summer meal providers step in. HIP’s Summer Meals for Kids provides freshly made, nutritious meals from the HIP kitchen at kid-friendly and accessible  locations around north Seattle. Recognizing that food insecurity impacts the entire family, parents or other caregivers are invited to share a meal with their child.

Do you know about Sun Bucks?

There’s a new program called Sun Bucks that pays $120 in food benefits for every eligible child in your family, which can be used to purchase groceries during the summer months.

For meal sites near you and Sun Bucks eligibility requirements, text FOOD to 509-509.

Low-income children are also at risk of cumulative learning loss during the summer months without access to engaging activities. In addition to providing nutritious meals, HIP partners with other community-based organizations to offer fun and enriching activities at meal sites for children and youth all summer long.

Check out our calendar to see what activities and events will be happening at your site! Please check the location of each event.

HIP’s Summer Eats program is sponsored by the United Way of King County.
