HIP has an exciting announcement! Thanks to the support and advocacy of King County Councilmember Rod Dembowski, HIP has secured $1.75 million to start a capital project. This money would go towards securing a new home for HIP, allowing us to expand the breadth and quality of services that we provide. As more families, single adults, and seniors struggle with food insecurity every day, this new home will be key in addressing the increasing need.

Following our 2026 Community Appreciation Event, Dembowski released the following statement:

“My top District priority for the 2026-2027 King County budget was securing a major grant to ensure that HIP could acquire a permanent home to support their essential work of feeding our community. I’m grateful that we were able to secure this $1.75 million capital grant, and I look forward to continuing to work with HIP and their wonderful community of supporters and volunteers to bring this vision to life. Thank you HIP for all you do!”

In response, HIP Co-Executive Director Srijan Chakraborty made the following statement:

We are deeply grateful for this investment from King County and the leadership of Councilmember Dembowski. With food security on the rise, this investment will allow HIP to meet the growing needs in our community with deeper and expanded services. Food is a basic human right and we’ll continue to increase access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food for everyone.

HIP is only in the early stages of this project, years away from leaving its current location. Nevertheless, we look forward to providing updates every step of the way!
