Behind the “Vale”

Hi everyone, Michael here! I’ve had a great time getting to know the children at Cedarvale Village. They’re all such energetic children with a constant drive to compete and show off their skills in every activity they do. Whether it be basketball, racing or face-painting, they have passion that only the energy of youth can bring. The diverse personalities of the kids have a variety of food preferences. For instance, some kids are peanut butter and jelly connoisseurs, while others enjoy ranch on their cheese sticks. Getting the chance to know each one and educate them on the joys of healthy eating and nutrition have been an amazing experience!

While I came to our site everyday with planned activities, the kids always surprised me with their ingenuity, using the craft materials in novel ways to surpass the boundaries of the activity and engage in new creative enlightenment. Through them, I’ve relearned the enjoyment that comes with childhood wonder. I highly recommend people of all ages to volunteer with Hunger Intervention Program and actively participate at one of your local meal sites!
