The proposed Farm Bill will take food away from hard working families and children. We need you to speak up against these devastating cuts now.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), more commonly know as food stamps, has been one of the most effective anti-hunger and anti-poverty programs for many decades. Unfortunately, it has also been a target for some of our legislators and other moneyed interests who are bent on weakening this successful and critical program.

The US House released its draft Farm Bill recently. The current draft will take food away from hard working families and individuals who are facing the most significant barriers to work. It’ll let more children go hungry at schools with less enrollment in the free/reduced price school meal program. It’ll punish people who are working but for whom work is not available year-round. In essence, this Farm Bill, if passed, will make the hunger crisis much worse for our communities. We’ll see longer lines at our food banks and meal programs, which are already struggling to put up with the demand.
