What do you like about summer in Seattle? It can be a treat to the senses, both for the eyes and the taste buds. Fresh local berries, juicy plums, peaches, Washington cherries, and summer squashes are big attractions at the local farmers markets. Among this abundance of food, however, there is also hunger. One in five kids in Washington state lives in a household that struggles to put food on the table. Let us repeat that number one more time: one in five kids. That is 20% of all kids. However you read that number, that’s too many children who are not getting the nourishment they need to thrive and grow up healthy. Without access to the school based free/reduced-price meals, these children are at risk of going hungry during the summer break. We know you will agree that even one child going hungry is one too many.

Your donation makes fresh, nutritious meals available to children, youth, and their parents all summer long.
