GiveBIG to HIP: Feed a child this summer

What do you like about summer in Seattle? It can be a treat to the senses, both for the eyes and the taste buds. Fresh local berries, juicy plums, peaches, Washington cherries, and summer squashes are big attractions at the local farmers markets. Among this abundance of food, however, there is also hunger. One in five kids in Washington state lives in a household that struggles to put food on the table. Let us repeat that number one more time: one in five kids. That is 20% of all kids. However you read that number, that’s too many children who are not getting the nourishment they need to thrive and grow up healthy. Without access to the school based free/reduced-price meals, these children are at risk of going hungry during the summer break. We know you will agree that even one child going hungry is one too many.

Your donation makes fresh, nutritious meals available to children, youth, and their parents all summer long. One third of all the financial support for HIP comes from individual donors like you. Please consider making a donation to HIP today as part of the GiveBIG Campaign this year. This day of giving makes it possible for individual donations to be multiplied and for more kids to receive the support they need (see below for more details). GiveBIG day is Wednesday, May 9th, but you can schedule your donations right now!

$5,000 Matching challenge!

We have a generous donor who is going to match every donation up to $5,000! We have accepted the matching challenge, and in fact, set ourselves a goal to raise double that amount! Would you help us get to our goal of $10,000? When you donate as part of the GiveBIG campaign, as an added incentive, multiple donors will be chosen every hour to have their contribution to an organization generously boosted with a $2,500 award! Will you be that lucky one?
