Our favorite “small potato”

If you were to pay TW a complement he would try to deflect it by saying that he is just a “small potato”. If so, he’s our favorite small potato.

TW has been diligently volunteering at our senior meal program, twice a week, for over two years. Though he is one of our senior-most volunteers, he is indefatigable in his tasks: putting out chairs, busing tables, taking out the trash and on and on. He is often the first one to arrive to help set up tables and is reliably the last one to leave. When asked how he does it, he replies, “I just imagine I [am] only seventeen.”

For ten years he worked at the Lake City Value Village and is a well known figure in the community. He volunteers and eats at our community meal to stay active and meet new people. When we asked him for advice on how to make the world a better place it is clear that he practices what he preaches. “Work hard and be humble – I always say to my sons: be humble.”
