Hot nutritious meals for people experiencing homelessness

Winter Shelter VolunteersEvery year when the fall season rolls around and our good friends at the Lake City Partners Ending Homelessness start their winter shelter program for people experiencing homelessness in our neighborhood, we try to do our part by providing some hot and nutritious meals at the shelter.

This year we have some awesome new volunteers from Bastyr University who haven taken on this project and are helping us prepare and serve the meals at the shelter. In this picture you can see the bright smiling faces of Kyli & Sarah serving hot chili, rice, and apple crumble at the shelter. Everyone seemed to love the food and the warmth of our volunteers!

Homelessness is hard. Our bitter cold and rainy winter makes homelessness even harder. Shelters and shelter meals are only short-term solutions to address the most immediate needs while we work together to end the root causes of hunger and homelessness. We are glad to be able to contribute, with your support, to the community effort making our un-housed neighbors a little more comfortable during this time of the year. Thank you for making these meals, and all other meals, possible!
